Hello my stylish friends. In the last chapter of our lively design adventures, we announced our new name–Manlove and Company Interiors–and our new design (and personal) philosophy: “Celebrate what you love.” Now, we’re excited to debut our first project that takes this philosophy to a whole new level. It’s a stunning modern home tucked just behind the dunes in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Let’s get into that summer state-of-mind with a little beach house inspo.

Our clients for this project were two well-established DC professionals who were in the process of building a tranquil coastal retreat. This was truly a passion project for them. A place to begin the next chapter of their lives. They wanted a turnkey solution for fully furnishing their seaside oasis and needed a team that would take care of each and every detail. That’s where we came in.

The couples’ dream home wish list included striking architecture, luxurious yet livable furnishings inside and out, and all the modern comforts needed to host plenty of family and friends.

We worked hand-in-hand with the clients’ architect, (Lawlor Architects) and their builder (Boardwalk Builders) to provide a comprehensive, perfect-fit design for this extraordinary residence.

We also utilized our trusted team of vendors and trades, including a 3D artist to render concepts for select spaces to illustrate furnishings and finishes.

Renderings for a project of this scope were invaluable, allowing the clients to truly visualize the concept.

The open dining room benefits from a double-sided fireplace, which features a handsome shale and walnut wall. The custom-made10-foot dining table features seating for 12 for hosting large family gatherings. (Thanksgiving at the beach, anyone?) A stain resistant sisal rug contributes to the beach vibe and feels great underfoot.

One of our favorite spaces is this cozy den. We love how the natural grasscloth in teal brings your eye up to the striking wood ceiling.

For the primary bedroom, we kept the furnishings calm and clean and let the view be the focus. Our clients love the color blue, so we had ample opportunity to mix our palette of blues and neutrals throughout the home which contributes to the cohesiveness of all the spaces.

The bedroom also features a comfortable seating area and built-in cabinetry for clothing.

Boasting the best ocean views in the house, the third-floor loft serves as another guest area which includes a sleeper sofa by American Leather (the best sleeper sofa on the market). The loft also features a game table and bar area so the party can move upstairs.

For the screened porch, we combined Brown Jordan furnishings, with a Room & Board table with an easy care metal and ceramic top. The woven resin wicker and Sunbrella cushions for the sofa and chair offer relaxed comfort, while standing up to the elements.

For the outdoors spaces, we sourced durable outdoor furnishings that would withstand the coastal climate of intense sun, wind and salt air. We selected streamlined, understated pool deck furnishings and Brown Jordan parasols in white and coastal blues to compliment the palette of the indoor furnishings. This house has floor to ceiling windows overlooking the pool area, so it was important that all the spaces complimented each other. You can view the pool area from almost every room of this side of the house.

It's been a labor of love (and teamwork) and now our clients truly have a one-of-a-kind home to share and enjoy with loved ones. A beach side residence that celebrates their love of architecture and design that’s comfortable and welcoming. Just be sure to leave your flip-flops at the front door!
